30 WEEKS

I think I’m in shock that we are 30 weeks pregnant. This is it. This is the last 10 (likely less) weeks. At this point in Cassidy’s gestation, we didn’t even know she was coming home with us and yet I feel like we don’t have enough time to get everything done! 🙂

I have the bedding here at the house and the new diaper bag (my treat to me). We have ordered the furniture. New carpet is coming Tuesday. I need to choose a paint color for the room and start painting. Of course none of that really matters. We need to get 1 more car seat and pull out the newborn clothes and then we’re ready to go. I suppose we should get some bottles too… I picked out birth announcements (well, actually, I couldn’t find any I like so I found someone to design them). I’ll print the labels and have the envelopes ready in the next couple weeks. I do want to find something nice and sort of matchy to bring them home from the hospital in, but I’ll have time to shop in the next few weeks…

I think I’m in that nesting mode that I’ve never really known before. Sadly for Scott it’s not leading to cleaning, just buying 🙂

Getting nervous… December 2010
3 comments

We had 2 appointments this past Monday, one with the OB and one for an ultrasound to check babies weights, cervix, etc.  Both were great, all good news!! I had to do the 3 hour Glucose test Tuesday morning, NOT fun. 🙂 I think the worst part was having to get up so early-having the kids on Christmas break has spoiled me!! I had a magazine to read so the time went by pretty fast, and I passed the test. The nurse said that my numbers weren’t even close to borderline. So, I must have just had too much sugar last weekend before my 1 hour test.    I am still feeling great!  A few pictures below, at 28 weeks 3 days

We weigh over 2lbs!!

Wow. What a great day! The OB appt was boring, just like it should be 🙂 Heartbeats are good, K is measuring 33 weeks and her weight is right on (don’t worry, K, I would never divulge that number in cyberspace!) Her cervix is doing great and she doesn’t need another u/s until 32 weeks.

We had an u/s that estimated the babies weigh 2lbs 4 oz (Baby A) and 2lbs 11oz (Baby B); A is head down and B is breech, but that’s ok cause A is the important one (but don’t ever tell her I said that!!). Please say lots of prayers that K’s 3 hour glucose comes back fine today. I would hate to have to hide all the cookies while Kylene and her family are in town!

As soon as the holidays are over we will be setting up the nursery. The bedding is here and the furniture should be ordered this week. This is really IT!!!

ETA: Prayers worked – K passed the 3 hour with flying colors.. let the cookie eating begin 🙂

Getting nervous…

So I’m starting to get nervous about this whole ‘2 babies’ thing. The more people that say “you’re going to have help, right?”, the more I wonder if I’m crazy to do this “alone.” “Alone” being me, Scott, and the occasional friend or family member. My big problem is that I’m a control freak. I want things done my way and if they’re not I *may* throw a tantrum. Yes, I know this about myself.

Hiring someone is really not feasible because, contrary to popular opinion, we are not rich IPs (surrogacy joke…). But seriously, with me not working, Cass going to school, AND 2 more humans to clothe and feed, things are going to be tight as it is. That’s not to say that we can’t ever get a sitter, but it’s not going to be a common occurrence.

But, others have done it – raised twins without help. And what’s the worst that can happen? I’ll be a zombie until they start sleeping through the night. The only real issue is Cass and I will have to make the extra effort to stay awake when she’s home 🙂 I just have to remember that it won’t last forever. So if you don’t hear from me for a while, just assume I’m sleeping!

are we really at 24???

so far this pregnancy has been just as easy/uncomplicated as my other 3 have been.  I do feel like I am carrying “lower” than before, but maybe it’s just me.  I feel the girls moving/kicking all the time, especially in the evening after I get my kids to bed and finally sit down and put my feet up. My kids keep commenting on my “fat belly” and how big it is getting. I keep reminding them that it will only get BIGGER in the next few months.

Last weekend Scott, Jess, and Cassidy came down for the “big” ultrasound.  The kids had so much fun playing together!! We went out one night with NO KIDS-it was so fun to just relax and enjoy dinner…..and there were some fun surprises too!! 🙂 🙂 We are all looking forward to spending more time together over Christmas.  And my kids can’t wait to see where Cassidy lives.

Here are a few pictures of my ever growing belly…..and yes, the bathroom is BRIGHT green….it’s the kids bathroom.

24 Weeks – Unbelievable

Sometimes I feel like I’m in a dream. I  think it’s because currently, in my house, there are no tangible reminders that the twins are coming. There’s all the same baby stuff that we’ve had since Cass was little (cause she’s big now :)) But something will remind me and I’ll get all excited again to realize that after a couple years of planning/trying/etc, there ARE babies coming home in March – 2 of them!! It seems really dream-like to me.

K is 24 weeks pregnant today. Realistically that’s 2/3 of the way there, maybe a little less but stay with me here. By the time the holidays are over, she’ll be 30 weeks (Jan 3). That’s unbelievable. And scary. And thrilling. And all those other things that I’m having trouble putting into words. Because I know how fast December always goes and then January and … wow … they will be HERE SOON.

I don’t have anything intelligent to say, just had to get that off my chest. I really miss K and her family and my babies since we left them last week. I can’t wait until they are here after Christmas!

BEST “weekend”

I keep calling it the “weekend” even though it was really Thursday and Friday.

Anyway, we were in VA for 2 days and it was great! Kylene and I had a wonderful tour/meeting with the hospital personnel and feel really positive about how everything is going to go there! The ladies were really nice and gave us all the answers we wanted to hear.

We also had our big ultrasound to confirm everyone is healthy! And pink! Definitely 2 girlies baking 🙂 Now Scott and I can really order cribs and bedding, etc.

Friday night we went to dinner at the Melting Pot with K and M and shared some surprises for them and also the girls’ names. We had a great time hanging out and the kids all played really well together.  Kylene looks awesome and is still feeling good which we are so thankful for! I can’t wait to see her again next month!

the BIG ultrasound

I just realized that our BIG ultrasound is next week. NEXT WEEK we will find out 100% the genders of the babies and see how wonderfully healthy they both are. This is really a big deal. The only milestones left are viability (24 weeks), full term (36 weeks) and birth…It’s really going quickly and I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.

We are going to dinner with Kylene and Matt next Friday night. We have some surprises for them (hopefully including the girls’ names) and I don’t know when the 4 of us will be able to go out for a nice dinner – alone – again in the near future, so I’m really looking forward to that.

With the holidays coming, the next few months are going to fly by. I don’t want to wish it away but I can’t wait to hold my babies!!

Halfway There….

2o weeks today! nothing new to report, so i will just attach a photo. but i have to say, i look WAY BIGGER in person. must be the camera angle or something.
